WELCOME

Welcome to the Overlake Elementary PTA blog. We hope that you will enjoy reading about your child's school and the many activities and events that are being sponsored by the PTA.

WHAT IS THE PTA?
PTA stands for Parent Teacher Association. It is an organization that brings parents and teachers together so they can work towards improving the lives and education of students. Research shows that getting involved in your child's education helps him thrive at school and the schools themselves get better when parents take an active role. The PTA is also a great way to share opinions and information with other parents and your child's teachers, to learn about what's going on in school, and to be part of a strong voice speaking for our children's welfare.

WHY JOIN THE PTA?
As a not-for-profit organization, PTA looks to you our members to provide the extra measure of support to accomplish Overlake Elementary goals for our students.
Some of the benefits of joining the PTA are:
  • Get Connected. There’s no better way to know what’s happening in your school.

  • Discover Resources. The PTA offers a variety of programs designed for parents as well as students.

  • Meet your neighbors and make new friends. PTA functions are opportunities to meet other parents and teachers, building rapport and discussing issues that are on your mind. You can share ideas, concerns, and experiences.

  • Watch Yourself Grow. By volunteering with your PTA, you put your skills and hobbies to use for a noble cause—your child and all children in the community.

  • You have a voice. PTA can be a way for you to more effectively suggest change at your child’s school.

  • Witness Improvement. By getting involved at your child’s school you’ll be part of the solution, helping make positive changes. Local PTAs play an important role in fundraising to provide building improvements, curriculum-based programs, and social events.

  • Be a Role Model. By becoming a PTA member, you’ll be demonstrating to your child the importance you place on education.
Membership costs are only $6.00 per year and 100% of that money stays in your child's school. Contact the school at 435.843.3805 to find out how to join.

We are looking forward to a great school year and hope that you will check in on our blog for upcoming events and activities. Please email any suggestions or ideas that you may have to overlakeelementary@gmail.com
